Recreation Activities and Special Events
Throughout the year, the Park & Recreation Department provides residents of all ages a diverse selection of activities and events to choose from. Children and teenagers can take advantage of the numerous camps, clinics and instructional lessons to maintain or improve in sports or other activities. Groups can participate in the many sport tournaments and leagues that are available throughout the different seasons. Everyone can enjoy the special events that happen regularly such as summer concerts, breakfast with Santa and baseball games at Busch Stadium.

Easter Egg Hunt
To the children of Wood River residents ages toddler thru 6th grade a FREE Easter Egg Hunt is offered. The hunt will be held at Belk Park, at the top of Rock Hill Road. There will be over 120 dozen eggs hidden, along with some special prizes to be awarded to those finding special eggs. Each child will also receive a bag of candy from the Easter Bunny. Prizes are donated by Wood River Area Merchants. Be sure to bring your camera!

The 25th Annual Egg Hunt begins at 11:00 a.m.

Youth League Parade
Come on out and enjoy the opening day for the youth league. This parade consists of all youth league baseball/softball participants, Tri-City and Wood River Instructional League. The parade will end at Emerick Sports Complex, on 6th St., where youth league games will be held to kick off the season. Date and Time TBA

Municipal Band Concerts in the Park
The Municipal Band performs in Central Park on Wednesday evenings at 8:00 p.m. throughout the summer months of June, July and August. Bring the family to enjoy outdoor concerts and take time to soak in the atmosphere at Central Park.

Dash-N-Splash
Join your kids at a fun filled family event. Wood River Parks & Recreation is co-sponsoring the 15th Annual Dash and Splash at the Wood River Aquatic Center. The dash is a one-mile run at the East Alton-Wood River High School Track and the splash follows as an open swim at the Aquatic Center. Date and Registration TBA

Fee: $5 per child for 14 & under and $8 per adult. Call 251-3130 for more information.

Triathlon
The 25th Annual Wood River Triathlon, sponsored by the Aquatic Center, starts with a swim at the Aquatic Center, followed by a bike ride and run through the streets of Wood River. The race finishes in Central Park near the bandstand. Professional timers are used and trophies are awarded to each age group. It is scheduled for Saturday, August 14th, 2010 at 7:00 a.m. Volunteers are always needed. If interested, please call Toni at the Recreation Department at 251-3130.
Wood River Triathlon Application

Halloween Party - Come on over for a spooktacular time.
The 25th annual Halloween Party for children of Wood River residents up to 12 years of age is being held on Monday, October 18, 2010. It runs from 7:00-8:00 p.m. There will be games, entertainment, a movie, goodies to eat and drink, plus a costume contest. Parents will want to take advantage of this FREE event.

Breakfast With Santa
Join us at the Round House for the 25th Annual Breakfast with Santa and get into the Christmas spirit. Each breakfast includes: pancakes, sausages, milk, juice and coffee. Adult and child plates are available for purchase. The children have the chance to have their picture taken with Santa free of charge. No reservations are required.
