Summer Employment:

The Park & Recreation Department is now taking applications for summer employment.  Application Form

Aquatic Center Openings: The Aquatic Center will start taking applications in February for summer employment. Positions needed are  Lifeguards, Cashiers, Concessions, Maintenance, and Water Safety Instructors.

Lifeguards
Flexible hours (15-35 a week) including evenings and weekends.
Minimum qualifications: At least 16 years old. Must be able to lift 40 pounds to chest height, ability to see and hear possible emergencies, capable of sitting or standing for up to three hours, must have excellent communication skills and be able to think clearly and respond appropriately in an emergency. Lifeguard license, first aid and CPR certification required before season begins. CPR recertification can be attained through the Wood River Parks and Recreation Department (call Alyssa at 251-3130 for more information). Employment can not be provided without certification.

Lifeguards oversee the safety of all guests and enhance their enjoyment of the facilities through constant supervision, consistent rule enforcement, friendly service, a helpful attitude, and, when necessary, performing rescues.

 

Cashiers
Flexible hours (15-35 a week) including evenings and weekends.
Minimum qualifications: Prior experience preferred.  At least 18 years old, able to see and hear guests and staff, have cash register knowledge and ability, be able to accurately count money. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to think clearly and respond appropriately in an emergency.

Cashiers quickly and efficiently process sales, serve as a resource to guests, answer telephones and process information.

 

Concessions
Flexible hours (15-35 a week) including evenings and weekends.
Minimum qualifications: At least 16 years old, able to see and hear guests and staff, have cash register knowledge and ability, must be able to work in a team atmosphere, display good customer relations skills and maintain cash controls. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to think clearly and respond appropriately in an emergency.

Concession employees quickly and efficiently process sales, serve as a resource to guests, and process information.

 

Maintenance
Hours will vary as scheduled (15-35 a week)
Minimum qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age, able to work independently with minimal supervision, capable of lifting 50 pounds to shoulder height, able to bend to the floor and reach/lift overhead.

Maintenance employees strive to provide the highest levels of user satisfaction. Each member ensures that all areas of the water park are free of hazards, sanitary, safe and inviting.

 

Water Safety Instructor
Four two week sessions Monday through Friday between 7:00am & 10:00am
Minimum qualifications: At least 16 years old.  Have ability to see and hear possible emergencies, be able to lift 40 pounds to chest height, capable of teaching in the water for up to four hours, must have excellent communication skills and be able to think clearly and respond appropriately in an emergency. WSI certification required before classes begin.

Must be enthusiastic and great with kids and adults. Classes consist of group and private lessons with children as young as 3 years old.

 

 

The Wood River Parks & Recreation Department will start taking applications in February for summer employment. Positions needed are Diamond Crew, Clean Sweep, Concessions, Umpires, and Park Maintenance.

 

Diamond Crew 
Flexible hours (25-35 a week) to include some evenings and weekends.
Minimum qualifications: At least 16 years old, able to work independently with minimal supervision, capable of lifting 50 pounds to shoulder height, able to bend to the floor and reach/lift overhead, and general knowledge of baseball/softball field layout. Must be 18 years old to operate tractor

 

 

Concessions
Flexible hours (15-30 a week) including evenings and weekends.
Minimum qualifications: At least 15 years old, able to see and hear guests and staff, display good customer relations skills and maintain cash controls.

Concession employees quickly and efficiently process sales, serve as a resource to guests, and process information.

 

 

Umpires
Flexible hours (10-15 a week) including evenings and weekends.
Minimum qualifications: At least 15 years old, general knowledge of baseball/softball rules and display good customer relations skill.

 

 

Park Maintenance 
Hours will vary as scheduled (25-35 a week)
Minimum qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age, able to work independently with minimal supervision, capable of lifting 50 pounds to shoulder height, able to bend to the floor and reach/lift overhead.

Park Maintenance employees strive to provide the highest levels of user satisfaction. Responsible for maintaining park grounds and green space, including watering, weeding, raking, planting and keeping the park clean and tidy.
